I’m an endurance cyclist and often spend long hours on the bike. Cycling is mostly a coping skill I use to manage chronic pain resulting from a catastrophic injury sustained while working in law enforcement. The long hours spent on the bike also allow me time to de-stress and reduce anxiety after a long day at work. I work crisis intervention for suicide/homicide/psychosis, so stress management is a must. I’m not a strict roadie or mountain biker, I enjoy both equally and occasionally test my luck with mountain unicycling. For the most part, I just like going places and my bikes are a way to get there – even if it is a 300 mile ride.
